Having lived through a similar experience, I can relate to how the author handled various situations. As a reader, if you find that this story mimics many behaviors that you have dealt with and are currently dealing with, perhaps you are also in a relationship with a narcissist. The author is a strong woman, stronger than she gave herself credit for during the time she spent with her boyfriend. As I kept reading and noticing the pattern of abuse (mental games that are often played by the narcissist), there were a few moments where I wanted to yell “What are you doing! Don’t take him back!” But I understand having been in a similar position with blinders on and having a few people point out the signs that I was oblivious to notice at that time. While it’s a shame that the author had to endure this experience, as it was certainly a hard lesson to learn; the author is raising awareness as to how to recognize the behaviors of a narcissist so that if you find yourself in a similar situation, you can get out before it’s too late.
