Local Author making her first Public Appearance.

Welcome back blog readers,

Within the last few weeks, I was invited to join a local writers group that meets up on Monday evenings at the library in town. I accepted the invitation and have met a very diverse group of local authors with a wide array of experience and knowledge.

This writer’s group is organizing a Showcase for Local Authors at the end of this month. Many will have a table set up to sell their book, perhaps even sign their books. Some authors will be on a panel to speak for 15 minutes and take part in a question & answer segment. Prizes are being awarded to a handful of lucky guests.

One minute I’m being invited to join the online group, the next minute I was invited to join them for this event! Of course, I agreed! This was the push that I needed to get out of my comfort zone and take my writing to the next step.

I rushed to place an order for a Square reader for my android phone to allow me the ability to accept credit card payments. The device is FREE, so why not take advantage and have that means of payment available.

An order was placed to Amazon for 15 copies of my book, Breaking the Cycle of Abuse: My Journey from Victim to Survivor. Trust me, I would have loved to order more, but the shipping costs and import fees from the USA to Canada are outrageous. At my price (author price) I pay $3.83 per copy, which is what it costs amazon to print each paperback on demand. Fifteen copies came to $57.45, plus the shipping, plus the import fees, plus the tax came to $88.69, that $88.69 is in USD which gets converted to $116.68 CAD. So yeah, I was hesitant to order any more than that. Luckily I still have a few copies stored away that I can add to the pile.

After talking with a few other indie authors that had already attended a book signing event, they suggested that I order some custom bookmarks to hand out. Assuming I will sell through the 19 copies of my book during the four-hour event; at least I have something to hand out to potential readers. I placed an order through VistaPrint for 50 custom bookmarks.

I was fortunate to have enough time to allow all of my orders to arrive before the event at the end of this month.

Overall, it’s been a pretty good month for book sales, actually, it’s the best month so far.

I have no complaints and I’m really excited about making my first public appearance. Hopefully, I remember to take a few pictures so I can share them with you here in a later post.

Self-Published, 1 Year Anniversary

My journey as a self-published author started one year ago (June 28th to be exact). That is the date that Breaking the Cycle of Abuse: My Journey from Victim to Survivor was released to the public on Amazon/KDP.

I’ve decided to celebrate this occasion by offering discounted prices for both Kindle and paperback copies for the month of June. The price for the Kindle e-book went from $3.99 (USD) to $2.01 (the lowest I was allowed to set), and the price for the paperback went from $14.95 (USD) to $7.50, and they will stay at those prices until June 30, 2019.

Here’s the link to the selling page, for anybody interesting in obtaining a copy at the discounted price while it lasts.

Since the release of this book, here are the stats.

  • Kindle e-books (sold)… 7 copies
  • Kindle Unlimited (pages read)… 1,369
  • Paperback (sold)… 9 copies
  • FREE Kindle downloads (Free Promotion)… 126
  • Total Royalties Earned… $64.22 CAD
  • Five 5-Star reviews on Amazon.com
  • One 5-Star review on Amazon.ca
  • Ranked #1 on Amazon’s Best Selling List under Sexual Abuse/Self Defense and Memoir in the USA and Canada.
  • 172 Followers on my Author page on Facebook
  • 565 Twitter Followers
  • 786 Friends on Facebook, under Hannah Reinbeck personal page
  • 23 Followers to this blog

All in one year.

I say not too shabby for an indie author that has done everything herself with the help of her husband that did a final edit and assisted with the cover design/format. I don’t have a team of assistants that help promote me or my work. I respond to every interaction on social media personally. Just as I have spent more on advertising than I’ve made. That’s the truth behind self-publishing.

Anyway, Please take advantage of the discounted pricing for the month of June! I encourage you to Share, Like, and leave a comment/feedback. Your reviews are welcome and can be left on any Amazon platform or on Goodreads if you’re a member. You may also leave a comment on my facebook page or messenger as a few have and those will be added to my Testimonial Page on this blog.

Thank You all for your continued support!!

As always, 25% of the proceeds will be donated to RAINN.

I wanted to express my gratitude to all of you.

  • Friends/Family
  • Readers that obtained a copy of my book in any format
  • Those of you that took a moment to leave a review/rating on Amazon or Goodreads
  • Authors/Bloggers that featured my work on your site/page to help promote and raise awareness
  • Supporters/Fans/Followers that Like/Share what I put out on my social media pages and write on this blog.

Over the last few days, you have shared my written work from this blog to Facebook over 208 times! That is just the last 4 blog posts over the last week. That truly speaks volumes. I can’t claim that this has technically gone “viral,” it is, however, a significant move forward from where I started one year ago.

Those of you that have been following along since the beginning, know that I’m not writing for the fortune and fame. My writing is therapeutic, it’s an aspect of my healing process and a way for my inner child to be heard. Writing allows me the opportunity to get out what I have been keeping in for so many years.

Many authors aspire to be the next Stephen King, Dean Koontz, J.K Rowling, or Nora Roberts. Fiction turned into movie deals, big box office hits or made for TV mini-series. I hope that my experience will break the cycle of abuse for another child. Maybe a parent will recognize the signs of grooming and take action before it’s too late. Perhaps other victims will be inspired to seek help when they are ready. Spouses/partners and family members will have a better understanding as to how to support a loved one that endured a similar trauma/abuse. To know that sharing my experience has helped another person, that is all I hope to achieve.

Thank You for helping me raise awareness. Thank You for deeming my work worthy of sharing/liking, reading and taking the time to leave a review. You have no idea how much that helps! Most importantly, Thank you for listening.

This is not a good-bye post, this is me recognizing each and every one of you and letting you now that I appreciate your support. Thank you for confirming that there is an audience and I’m not just talking to myself.

THANK YOU!!!

Second Book is in the Works.

Book Shelve

Welcome back blog readers,

In Author News… Due to recent inspiration and encouragement, I have started working on my second book.

While I do have a few ideas for Children’s books, those will be put on hold until after this new project is finished.

This second book will be a fictional story based on real-life events. The inspiration for this story comes from the House of Chaos. How did a normal, loving home turn into the House of Chaos?

Some of the characters from my first book will crossover. The idea is to provide a bit of a back story for all of the kids that ended up living there while describing how a four-person household became a 14 person household.

I already have the Title picked out and an idea for the cover. Those details will come later.

Stay Tuned 😎~ Hannah
